The Seville Aquarium Begins Celebrating its Tenth Anniversary

The Seville Aquarium turns ten years old on September 30th and wants to celebrate with all its visitors throughout the year. For this purpose, it is working on a calendar of activities, surprises, and raffles that will be announced in the coming months.

“This anniversary is a perfect opportunity to discover, or rediscover, the beauty of the seabed and its inhabitants, and to celebrate together with our team the work of dissemination and conservation of threatened species that we have been carrying out at the Seville Aquarium for a decade.” states Rocío Alcázar, manager of the center.

The Only Sea in Seville

Ten years in which the aquarium has managed to become a tourist and leisure reference in the city, but above all a center that focuses on education, conservation, and research to protect the marine environment. A path in which the center has collaborated with institutions, universities, and companies to protect different ecosystems and species, as well as to highlight one of the city’s greatest treasures, the Guadalquivir River, and other natural sites in Andalusia.

The aquarium is part of the city’s history and that of Sevillians, as many have already come to meet the center’s most beloved animals, such as “Chelo and Nando”, the pair of sea turtles that are part of a conservation project for the Caretta caretta species; sharks like “Margarida” or “Lola”, or the “guitar fish”, protagonist of the center’s latest awareness campaign.

The complex, which was remodeled in 2017 with the purchase by Global Omnium, houses more than 400 species and represents a journey through all the seas and oceans of the planet, bringing nature and history closer to the nearly two million visitors who have come to its facilities or participated in its activities.

“The history of this aquarium has been written by all the workers who have been part of the project. All members of this team work daily for animal welfare, to promote respect for animals, and to ensure that all citizens become aware of the importance of caring for the environment, especially the oceans,” comments the center’s manager.

Discover the Aquarium

The first action to be launched is a raffle of 5 premium visits (each for 2 people) with the aim of allowing those who have not yet seen its facilities to visit them and learn about its history. These visits will be conducted with a guide who will show the entire aquarium tour and its most unknown area, the technical zone.
