The Seville Aquarium Presents “22 Ways to save the Planet”

The Seville Aquarium launches a new awareness campaign in which we encourage all audiences to collaborate in saving the oceans. A campaign in which the number 22 will have a special meaning, as it will take place between March 22, World Water Day, and April 22, Earth Day, a period during which we will carry out different activities to celebrate both events.

IMPORTANCE OF CARING FOR WATER

There are many reasons to protect and care for water, but the most important is that it is necessary for the survival of all living beings on the planet. Water is the most valuable natural resource for humans and the environment where many of the species that inhabit the Earth live.

From the oceans, we obtain much of the oxygen we breathe, food, minerals, energy, raw materials… and from rivers, additionally, the water we drink and that irrigates the land for farming; the water that cleans us and protects us from diseases.

For these reasons, we encourage you to join us and collaborate by carrying out some of the “22 ways to save the planet” that we propose.

SCHEDULED ACTIVITIES
1. Photographic exhibition “Working for the sea”
We inaugurate an exhibition of 22 photographs in which we show the daily work of our team putting our “grain of marine sand” in the care of oceans and animals.

2. Superheroes of the sea
One of our objectives is for children to join “Waterwoman and Waterman” in their effort to save the oceans, and for this, we are launching an awareness game. Those who manage to answer the questions from the sea guardians will win a superhero badge, as well as get a 50% discount on their aquarium entrance (check conditions here)

3. Activity for schools
We are looking for future scientists to help us save water as a natural environment, and for this reason, we are launching an activity for primary school students.

Those students who want to participate with their class must create a scientific poster explaining their project to conserve rivers and oceans. Among all the participating classes, a draw will be held, and the winning class will be awarded the “Midnight with sharks” activity.

4. Guided tours to the technical area
On April 11, 12, and 13, several visits to the technical area of the Sevillian aquarium will be conducted, where visitors can learn how they maintain the water to keep the animals’ health in perfect condition. This activity is free with the purchase of an entrance ticket at the aquarium box office, but places are limited (reserve spots at www.acuariosevilla.es)

5. Turtle release
To celebrate World Water Day, one of the turtles from the “S.O.S. Caretta” project (led by the Man and Territory Association, in collaboration with fishermen from the Andalusian coasts) that are in the aquarium facilities finishing their recovery after accidental capture in Andalusian waters will be released.

6. Beach cleanup
The last action of this cycle of activities will be a beach cleanup on Earth Day. An ecological activity in which the carbon footprint will be reduced as much as possible and to which the aquarium encourages the general public to join (limited places – reserve here)
