The Seville Aquarium Launches an Instagram Contest for World Biodiversity Day
During this time we’ve spent at home, what animals have you seen in your street, neighborhood, or countryside that you previously overlooked? Some say that nature is reclaiming the cities, while others say we’re simply paying more attention to our surroundings now. Whatever the reason, the truth is that we now see many more animals around us than before.
This is the central theme of the new contest that the Seville Aquarium has launched on its Instagram profile, to discover all the living beings that followers have found in their neighborhood, countryside, etc. The aquarium thus aims to highlight not only marine biodiversity, but all that can be found on the planet, and therefore promotes this contest that starts today and will run until Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 23:59 hours.
To participate, users (who must be followers of the aquarium on Instagram) only need to share on their wall a photo or video of the animals or plants they have discovered along with the hashtag #Veodiversidad and tag @acuariosevilla. Among all participants, 2 tickets will be raffled to visit the aquarium facilities once it reopens its doors.
What is biodiversity?
The quantity of different living beings that inhabit the Earth, the various ecosystems, the relationships between them, and the genetic variation that exists among living beings in a population or between populations of the same species.
We are all connected to biodiversity, and what happens to it, its changes and variations, affects us too. Therefore, it is important that we participate in the protection and conservation of species, and the best way is to start with those that surround us, with the biodiversity of our geographical area.
