Anniversary of the First Circumnavigation of the World

Aug 5, 2019 | News

Celebrate at the Aquarium the 5th Centenary of Magellan-Elcano’s First Circumnavigation of the World.

The Seville Aquarium carries in its DNA the great adventure of Magellan and Elcano, as the entire exhibition route of the enclosure follows the same path as the first circumnavigation of the planet. The aquarium allows visitors to take a journey through history, with the uniqueness of being able to see up close the marine beings that accompanied the navigators on their extraordinary feat.

For this reason, the aquarium has prepared a series of activities on August 10th and 11th to celebrate the beginning of what can be considered one of the most important feats in our history, the journey that Fernando de Magellan embarked on in 1519 along with 239 sailors and which Juan Sebastián Elcano completed in 1522, resulting in the First Circumnavigation of the Earth.
