The Fourth Edition of the Course, “Sharks in Aquariums: Management and Maintenance”, Will Take Place in November

The Seville Aquarium launches the fourth edition of this course in mid-November, focusing on the management and maintenance of sharks in aquariums.

In the last three years, about one hundred and fifty people have participated in this initiative aimed at bringing knowledge about the marine environment closer and also promoting the conservation of seas and oceans.

The course, which will be taught by professionals with extensive experience, will delve into aspects related to shark biology and their maintenance in aquariums, addressing topics such as transport, facilities, feeding, and veterinary management of these animals. As a practical component, students will be able to see work materials and biological samples, perform a shark dissection, and visit some of the technical areas of the Aquarium.

This activity will last 20 hours and will take place on November 16 (afternoon), 17 and 18 (morning and afternoon) at the Seville Aquarium facilities. The course program can be consulted on the Aquarium’s website, where reservations can also be made to participate. The price is €120 for university students and €140 for the general public, and all attendees (up to a maximum of 40 people) will receive a certificate of completion.

The Seville Aquarium courses are a very useful tool for bringing the world of aquariums closer to the general public, and university students in particular, as well as showcasing a potential career path. These types of activities attract a large audience due to the curiosity that sharks arouse.
