Seville Aquarium Participates in Science Week

Once again, the Seville Aquarium is taking part in Science Week, the largest annual science outreach event in Europe. This initiative involves numerous research-related organizations and is coordinated by the Fundación Descubre.

This year, Science Week at the Seville Aquarium focuses on the amphibian kingdom. The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of these species, which live in both aquatic and terrestrial environments. While frogs are the most well-known, this group also includes salamanders, newts, gallipatos, and axolotls, among many others. All of these species are threatened, mainly by deforestation and climate change, making their conservation essential for maintaining the balance of ecosystems.

The “Amphibians” exhibition will be located along the Aquarium’s route and will be open from November 3 to 9. The 15 panels in the exhibition display images of the most threatened amphibians from different regions of the world, providing visitors with information about their characteristics, curiosities, and the importance of their conservation.

Visitors will not only learn about these species but will also have the opportunity to participate in the “Jump for Amphibians” workshop, which will take place on November 8 from 11:00 to 13:00 in the space next to the whale skeleton. During the workshop, participants will explore the life cycle of frogs, the anatomy and conservation projects of the axolotl, discover why some species are poisonous, and receive a list of the most common and endangered amphibians in Andalusia.

All activities during Science Week at the Seville Aquarium are free with Aquarium admission, offering a unique opportunity to learn and enjoy as a family.
