Feb 23, 2026 | News

Acuario de Sevilla continues to strengthen its commitment to education, scientific outreach and marine conservation through its collaboration with Pablo de Olavide University. As a result of this joint effort, the course Marine Biodiversity Conservation was created — a specialised training programme that combines scientific knowledge, practical experience and environmental education.

This on-site programme, worth 5 ECTS credits (recognised as 3 ECTS credits in the academic transcript of UPO students) and with a total duration of 37.5 hours, will take place from 16 to 26 March 2026. It is aimed at undergraduate and university students, environmental professionals and anyone interested in ocean protection.

The course combines theory and practice and is structured into three modules:

  • Oceans and their conservation, addressing their role in maintaining the planet’s balance and the main threats facing marine ecosystems.
  • Marine biodiversity, focusing on the conservation status of species and the role of aquariums as key centres for conservation.
  • Environmental education for marine conservation, providing tools and strategies to communicate and design educational activities focused on the protection of the marine environment.

The aim of this programme is to complement participants’ knowledge in marine conservation and environmental education. In addition, completion of the course provides access to the Acuario de Sevilla’s pool of guides and educators, thereby expanding participants’ professional opportunities.
