The Seville Aquarium Presents its Summer Campaign Featuring Tropical Seas
The aquarium’s new campaign “Tropicales” encourages city visitors to enjoy the summer season in its facilities with coral reefs and the fish that inhabit them as the main attraction.
“Tropicales” is a concept of color, joy, and marine biodiversity. Tropical seas are clear, crystal, and warm waters, but they are also unique, as they make up only 1% of the planet’s marine water yet harbor more than 25% of the global biodiversity in the marine environment.
New species
The aquarium relaunches one of the areas of its tour with the most biodiversity on the planet, the tropical seas, with a new collection of multicolored species. Nearly a hundred species already inhabited these tanks, and now new species are joining them, such as the raccoon butterflyfish, the coral anthias, the spotted blenny, the mandarin fish, the blue lobster, the moorish idol, among many others.
This space, formed by different species of coral, anemones, and a network of roots from the mangrove ecosystem, is an opportunity to see up close all the richness of the seabeds found on the other side of the planet.
Experience “Arrecife 360”
Additionally, the aquarium launches the “Arrecife 360” experience, an opportunity to virtually dive in coral reefs and surround ourselves with all the tropical biodiversity. A 360º video accessible through our own mobile phones and free with the entrance ticket.
Activities to raise awareness
In tropical seas, we find reefs formed by corals of many diverse species that the aquarium wants to highlight, and which are currently threatened due to the fragility of these ecosystems. One of their greatest threats is global warming (due to climate change), which results in the acidification of waters and directly affects these species by slowing their growth, a phenomenon known as “coral bleaching”. The disappearance of these great ecosystems will impact not only marine life but also our own health.
Therefore, the aquarium wants us to join in the conservation of the reef through various actions and activities that will be carried out throughout the summer (all activities can be found on their website www.acuariosevilla.es and their social media). An example of these actions is their summer camp where children become protectors of tropical seas.
